After a two-year hiatus, Belladrum returns with a bang.

On Saturday night, Chic, with Nile Rodgers, performed on the main stage to round up the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival. Chic was followed by a fireworks spectacular.

For the act’s polished performance of disco, funk, and soul favourites including Everybody Dance, the Garden Stage was full.

About 20,000 people attended Bella, which was making its comeback following a two-year hiatus caused by Covid.

Three days of music starting on Thursday included a wide range of genres.

Vistas, Daytime TV, Ash, and Gok Wan performed on the new Hot House setup, which replaced the previous setup’s big tent with an open stage. Gok Wan also performed a DJ set.

Following UK Eurovision singer Sam Ryder’s illness-related withdrawal from the Hot House lineup on Thursday, Isle of Lewis band Peat & Diesel filled the void.

With about 12 hours’ notice, the band managed to get their affairs in order, board a ferry from the Western Isles to the mainland, and then be picked up by a friend who drove them to the festival in time for their 21:45 set.

In 2004, 2,000 people attended the first Belladrum, a one-day festival close to Beauly, which has now expanded into a weekend-long festival that attracts over 20,000 people.

Every festival has a theme, and this year’s was myths and legends. Participants are invited to dress up and wear costumes to the festival.
